Turf War

Turf War is a tableau-building card game where rival neighbors race to prove that their yard is the best on the block.

BUILD! Starting with just a plot of dirt and some basic tools, you'll build up your yard to earn points and unlock special advantages.

SABOTAGE! Wait for your rival to leave for work and then sneak devastating pests into their yard.

WIN! Sway the neighbors to your side by tailoring your yard to appeal to their tastes – or by just flat-out bribing them.

“Turf War had lots of fun built into it: Classic mechanics here that work really well, which I feel like, for a gamer, is going to give you a good time because they do those mechanics so well.” – Love 2 Hate Games

GAMEPLAY

Every game features a different set of Neighbors that you vie to sway over to your side. When the last Neighbor is swayed, the game ends, and whoever has the most points wins the glory of being best on the block.

The game is set up with 5 random Neighbors and 5 random Store cards. (The Store will be restocked as players buy cards, but the Neighbors will not be.) Each player starts with a HOME, a GARAGE, a PIGGY BANK, a yard of DIRT, and 3 basic TOOL cards.

On each of your turns, you'll decide if you want to be HOME or to be AWAY, determining which actions you can take and how your rival can interact with you during their next turn.

When you're Away, you can work, adding $5 to your Piggy Bank. Then, you can buy a card from the Store, putting that card into your Garage.

On turns where you decide to return Home after having been Away, you’ll pick up all of the cards from your Garage and put them into your hand.

When you're Home, you can play one card from your hand onto a yard, playing…

…an Ornament to score points in your own yard.
…a Plant to expand your yard so that it can fit more cards.
…a Feature to access effects that change how you play the game.
…a Tool to perform an immediate action (and then put the Tool into your Garage).
…or a Pest to sabotage your rival’s yard while they’re Away.

Then, for more points, you can sway a Neighbor to your side either by meeting their criteria or by bribing them.

When the last Neighbor is swayed, the game ends. The player with the most points from cards in their yard and in their sway wins."
