        Robot Hunter

65 million years ago, giant robots fell from space like fireballs. The huge metal creatures waged a bloody war against the dinosaurs for the control of Planet Earth. No one won. The dinosaurs fought bravely to defend our planet, and in a last heroic sacrifice, they ended up extinct, annihilating the robotic invaders with them. But not forever. You are a robot hunter. Your job is to find out where the giant robots are hiding, photograph them, record their abilities, and send the information to the agency.

A solitaire game where you’ll search in your surroundings - quite literally - for robots and snap pictures of them. If you thought games like Pokemon Go, where the real world is used as a feature, were fun then you won’t want to miss out on Robot Hunter. Discover robots, learn more about them through the agency to understand their abilities, and more in this solitaire experience unlike any other I’ve seen.

        In Dreams

A slightly surreal storytelling game for one.

If you’re drawn toward games with incredible art, then don’t miss out on this experience. In Dreams instructs you to place more emphasis on the creative writing facet of the game than the gameplay itself, something unusual already - and the game wants you to provide a journal for said writing. In Dreams has a creative system to generate characters, your encounters, and ways to trigger events that can shake up your entire game experience along the way. Whether you’re already someone who loves writing and telling stories, or someone who always wished you had that talent, In Dreams is sure to trigger a spark in your imagination as it hits your table.

        Battlecrest

        Kickstarter link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/239309591/battlecrest/

Battlecrest is a card-based tactical skirmish game. Master the potential of your Hero’s crests and prove that you are a true Battlecrest champion.

This promises to be a genuine delight as a small skirmish game. The premise is simple: kill your opponent’s hero before they kill yours. You may have a minion at your disposal to help, and there’s some map cards that can trigger extra effects for those adjacent to their sides. However, the neat thing is the open information, and the use of your abilities and how they’ll flip when refreshing so you’re constantly changing with what you can do. Attacking uses a card. Defending does as well. With a solo mode, and tons of opportunity to expand the game in the future, you don’t want to miss out on this 18-card package.

        Game of the Week: Desolate

You are stranded on a distant space station on a moon. You are not alone. There had been no communication with station 04 on the distant moon X483. A rescue mission was mounted, and you were on that ship as it lost use of its controls and crashed but meters from the station’s entrance. After the smoke cleared, you realized you were the only survivor. You made your way into the station in hopes of finding help, only to be shocked by the horrors within. You are alone. You must escape. You must survive.

Desolate is a grim setting, a wonderful aesthetic that helps set the mood. If you enjoy exploring various options each round, collecting resources and spending some of those resources to survive, then you don’t want to miss this. It has just enough push-your-luck in the exploration aspect to make it a really interesting experience. Fans of Iron Helm might enjoy checking out Desolate to see where that game’s system and mechanics first began along the journey. With short rules, a small PNP build, and a relatively small footprint, this is great for any solo gamer’s shelf.
